The Natural History Museum of the University of Łódź is one of the city’s oldest scientific institutions, with roots reaching back to 1930. Located on Kilińskiego Street beside Sienkiewicz Park, it preserves a rich zoological collection built over nearly a century, including specimens dating to the late 19th century. Today the museum holds more than 100,000 items, with insects forming the largest group, alongside extensive collections of birds, mammals, skeletons and rare invertebrates. Among its most notable exhibits are the reconstructed cave bear skeleton, an aurochs skull and a striking spider crab. A major modernisation completed in 2019 transformed the museum into an educational centre with expanded exhibition space and contemporary displays that introduce visitors to biodiversity, evolution and environmental science. Combining historical collections with modern interpretation, it offers an engaging journey through the natural world and the history of scientific discovery in Łódź.

Housed in a renovated 19th-century building originally from the Mikołajewski Municipal Garden, it offers exhibits of 1500 animal species amid serene park greenery.
