EC1 Łódź – Miasto Kultury is a flagship cultural complex created within the revitalised buildings of the city’s first power plant, originally launched in 1907. After the plant ceased operation in 2000, the vast post‑industrial site was transformed into a multidisciplinary centre for science, technology, film and contemporary creativity. Its carefully restored Art Nouveau and industrial façades, preserved machinery and atmospheric machine halls form a striking backdrop for modern functions. Today EC1 houses the Centre for Science and Technology with interactive educational paths, one of Europe’s top‑rated planetariums, the National Centre for Film Culture, and the Centre for Comics and Interactive Narratives. The complex also offers exhibition spaces, cinemas, event halls and areas dedicated to children’s learning. As a key part of the New Centre of Łódź, EC1 has become a dynamic cultural hub that blends heritage with innovation, attracting visitors with its rich programme of exhibitions, screenings and educational activities.

Housed in a repurposed early 20th-century power plant, this cultural campus features interactive science exhibits at the Centre for Science and Technology, Planetarium EC1 with panoramic city views from its cooling tower, Ulica Żywiołów children's science museum, Centre for Comics and Interactive Narrative, and National Centre for Film Culture.
