The Izrael Poznański Palace in Łódź is one of the most magnificent residences of Poland’s industrial era, a symbol of the wealth and ambition of the Poznański family. Built between the late 19th and early 20th century, the palace combines Neo‑Renaissance and Neo‑Baroque styles, distinguished by its grand façades, domed roofs and richly ornamented details. Originally a modest tenement, it was transformed by Izrael Poznański into an opulent L‑shaped residence featuring rare botanical gardens, a winter garden with a glass ceiling, a ballroom and a chamber of mirrors. The interiors, decorated by artists such as Samuel Hirszenberg, reflect the splendour of Łódź’s textile boom. After serving various administrative roles during the 20th century, the palace became the home of the Museum of the City of Łódź in 1975. Today it stands as a landmark of the city, offering visitors a vivid encounter with the history, culture and industrial legacy of Łódź.
