The Scheibler Palace in Łódź, located at 266 Piotrkowska Street, is one of the most distinguished residences of the city’s industrial elite and a key architectural landmark of the 19th century. Originally built in 1844 as a neoclassical tenement for Karl Gebhardt, it was admired as one of the finest buildings on the street. In 1880 the property was purchased by industrial magnate Karol Scheibler, who transformed it into an elegant urban palace that marked the western edge of his vast Księży Młyn estate. Through successive expansions in 1891, 1894 and 1897, the building evolved into a richly ornamented neo‑Renaissance and eclectic residence, featuring a distinctive corner tower, a winter garden and refined interiors with stucco decoration, tiled stoves and painted ceilings. The palace later served academic functions under the Łódź University of Technology. Today it stands as a testament to the city’s industrial prosperity and architectural ambition, offering a glimpse into the world of Łódź’s most influential factory dynasty.
