Built between 1833 and 1849 as the summer residence of Prince Wilhelm of Prussia—later Emperor Wilhelm I—and his wife Augusta, the palace was designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and later expanded by Ludwig Persius and Johann Heinrich Strack. Inspired by English Tudor architecture, its crenellated towers, pointed arches, and decorative brickwork evoke medieval charm while embracing 19th-century innovation. The interiors once hosted imperial gatherings and political milestones, including the appointment of Otto von Bismarck as Prime Minister in 1862. Set within Babelsberg Park, the palace offers sweeping views of the Glienicke Bridge and Havel River, surrounded by landscaped terraces and fountains.
