It was laid out around the neo-Gothic Babelsberg Palace starting in 1833 and designed by prominent garden artists including Peter Joseph Lenné and Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, commissioned by the future Kaiser Wilhelm I. Spanning approximately 124 hectares, the park features ornamental shrubs, flower gardens, water features, and elegant garden terraces. Notable landmarks within the park include the impressive Flatow Tower, modeled after Frankfurt's Eschenheimer Gate, and the historically significant Glienicke Bridge nearby.
