About

The Gutspark Groß Glienicke, located at the northern end of Groß Glienicker See, is a historic landscape park that once formed part of the manor estate of Groß Glienicke. Established around 1847/48, the park was designed to harmonize with the natural topography, featuring a large pond with an island, gently rising terrain, and carefully planned sightlines toward the manor house. For centuries, the estate passed through the hands of Brandenburg noble families, until the manor house itself was destroyed by fire in 1945. The division of Germany left the park split between East and West, with parts falling into neglect during the Cold War. Since reunification, restoration efforts have sought to preserve its historic structures, including walls, wells, and the Wollank family burial site, now protected as monuments. Today, the Gutspark is valued as both a cultural landmark and a place of recreation, offering visitors a tranquil setting that reflects the layered history of Potsdam’s borderland landscapes.

Gutspark in Potsdam, also known as Groß Glienicke Manor Park, is located at the northern end of Groß Glienicker See, within the Potsdam-Mittelmark district. This historic landscape park, once part of the Groß Glienicke manor estate, is characterized by expansive green lawns, ancient trees, and charming architectural remnants like old family tombs and colonnades, offering a serene setting for walking and cycling. Nearby are the lakeshore with its scenic views, remnants of the Berlin Wall for historical context, and easy access to the surrounding village of Groß Glienicke, making it a peaceful retreat just outside the central city area.
